“I listen deeply, then offer honest feedback and practical tools.”

Session languages: English
People come to me with anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship difficulties. I offer individual counseling for adults, from age 18 through older adulthood. I love helping clients develop assertiveness skills and a sustainable work-life balance.
It is a rare thing in our busy lives to have dedicated time with another who listens deeply to our story, offers emotional support, provides new perspectives, and gives honest feedback. A warm and caring therapeutic relationship is the biggest determining factor in client success, regardless of therapeutic style. With that in mind, I approach counseling with an eye to the counselor-client relationship. Through this bond, clients make strides toward self-empowerment, self-acceptance, and positive upward movement to reach their individual goals.
I am a psychologist. I also serve as an adjunct professor in counseling at Lehigh University. I was a staff psychologist at Psychology Associates of Bethlehem from September 2016 to December 2018, and my private practice has been open since November 2018.
My style aligns closest with an integration of psychodynamic work, cognitive behavioral therapy, and internal family systems, or parts-based theories. I shape my treatment to encourage individual empowerment and internalization of skills and insight. As symptoms subside and goals are reached, I work with you on when to meet less often or to wrap up.
I often use psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapies integrated with EMDR and IFS, or ego-states work. With EMDR, the work goes from the inside out: we address feelings and beliefs so that behaviors and thoughts can change, by bringing the brain into the therapy. I use it when old memories or stuck patterns are still affecting relationships, stress, or the kindness you can show yourself. Alongside that, I use practical tools to improve coping skills, including assertiveness. What I am working toward with you is symptom reduction, and also more assertiveness, a sense of worthiness, and a deeper connection with yourself and with other people. I routinely check in about how the therapy is progressing, and I adjust my approach as needed.
The first one or two sessions are focused on telling your story, clarifying your goals for therapy, and determining whether my services are the right fit for your needs. We collaborate to choose a therapeutic approach that will align with what you need, and we set a pace that feels both comfortable and engaging. After that, our sessions begin focusing more fully on the specific areas you want to address. Sessions may be scheduled weekly or biweekly based on your needs and personal preference. How long we work together depends on your goals.
I work with individuals from age 18 through older adulthood, including elders, on depression, anxiety, relationship problems, and trauma. People also come with grief, stress, life transitions, self-esteem, and coping skills. I offer a safe and affirming space for clients of diverse backgrounds, and I am a proud ally of the LGBTQ+ community. I also work with people who are bisexual, gay, lesbian, or queer. I offer individual one-on-one therapy. I work with clients struggling with depression, anxiety, and/or trauma related to their relationships both past and present.
I bring a warm counseling relationship, honest feedback, and a new perspective on the story you bring. Outside the office I am often hiking, baking, making music, or out in the Lehigh Valley.
As an undergraduate I spent much of my time at a center for older adults, organizing events and, one summer, managing it, because I loved hearing their stories. I completed my internship at the University of Pennsylvania counseling center. I was a postdoctoral resident in Lehigh's Counseling Center. My private practice, which I still run, opened in November 2018. My dissertation was on minority stress and sexual minority older adults, including ageism, heterosexism, and quality of life.
