How we order profiles

We list counsellors from any country while their listing is switched on, it is not suspended and Kyan has checked at least one of their registrations, memberships or credentials in the last 12 months. In addition, either they have accepted the Kyan Practice Terms that include clause 8A on the directory and their Kyan Practice website is live, or they are an active counsellor of the Kyan Health network: Kyan may then list them as described in its privacy policy (section 3.13), also before their website is live. We never list people employed by Kyan. This list is therefore not complete. Kyan doesn't provide therapy itself.

What decides whether a listed counsellor appears in your results: your filters (topics, language, online or in person, city and distance, fees, whether they're taking new clients).

What decides the order: among the counsellors who match, the order rotates once a day, so everyone gets the same chance to appear first. If you choose 'nearest first', we sort by distance instead. In 'Get matched', counsellors who match all your choices come first, then those who match all but one; within each group the order rotates daily.

People without a picture big enough for a card (their own portrait, or a photo of their practice room) are never placed in the first row of a list; apart from that, the order is the same. Up to four large pictures at the top of the home page show the first people in the daily order, on the day the page was last updated, among the up to 24 people whose photos score best in an automatic check for a large picture (colour, sharpness, a well-framed face clear of the name, a calm background); Kyan staff can add or remove a photo by hand when the check gets one wrong. With fewer than three such people there are none. The same automatic check decides which faces appear in 'Get matched', in the 'Not sure where to start?' box within lists and in 'What people come to talk about' on the home page: a photo it rates too low for that use, or whose face doesn't fit the small circle or the square, isn't shown there, and neither is a photo Kyan staff have removed by hand.

Nothing else counts: not payment, not subscriptions, not how often a profile is viewed or clicked, not bookings and not reviews (there are none). The "Registration checked", "Membership checked" and "Credential checked by Kyan" marks don't change the order.

Weighting: filters determine inclusion; among matching profiles, 100 % daily rotation, or 100 % distance when you choose 'nearest first'. In 'Get matched', required practical choices determine inclusion; profiles matching every optional choice come first, then those matching all but one, then the remaining profiles meeting the required choices. Within each group, 100 % daily rotation.

Listing is included in the Kyan Practice service at no extra cost. Nobody can pay for a better position. Directory terms
