About Monica
People come to me when anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, stress, or substance use is affecting daily life or a relationship. I also work with addiction.
My approach is client-centered. I blend cognitive behavioural therapy and emotionally focused therapy, and I use coping skills and strengths-based work, depending on what you need. I want a practical place to understand what you are experiencing, to name your goals, and to work on emotions, relationships, and life transitions. Humor, warmth, and authenticity are central to how I connect. I believe therapy should feel meaningful and relatable.
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Illinois. I completed Mental Health Counseling at Capella University in 2016. I founded my own counseling practice.
How Monica works
I work collaboratively, and I fit the work to you. Cognitive behavioural strategies, coping skills, and strengths-based work are for emotions, for relationships, and for life transitions. We name what is happening, and we look at a skill or a strength you can actually use.
What happens in our first session?
We start by talking about what you need, and about whether I am the right person to work with. In the work itself I want a supportive, practical space where we name what you are experiencing and the goals you want to move toward.
Who do you work with best?
I see individuals and families. I work with preteens, teens, adults, and people over 65. Life transitions, conflict, and intimate relationships show up as well.

What do you bring to your work?
I bring a client-centered style, humor, warmth, and authenticity. I would rather the hour feel relatable than distant.
