“I see individuals, couples, and families, and what gets in the way of enjoying life.”
Online
Session languages: English, русский
People come to me with anxiety, depression, grief, stress, and substance abuse, and with relationships that keep repeating the same conflict. I see individuals, couples, and families.
Marital, family, and child therapy is where this work comes from, and I have worked with people from childhood into retirement. I am fluent in Russian, and I use that background with people of different cultural experiences, including remote trauma treatment for Ukrainian refugees.
My goal is to maximize happiness and reduce anxiety and the impediments to truly enjoying your life. Sessions with me are insight-oriented, and they are by video. Running, including pacing other people in races, sits alongside the work, and I like bringing an interest in physical health into it.
My approach is eclectic and personalized to what you need. Individual work is time for you: more self-awareness, a look at the hurdles, habits you can build, and strengths that have been hard to see. With couples I treat the rough spots as material for connection, understanding, and a shared purpose. You learn practical ways to talk through a conflict, to feel heard, and to notice your own patterns, reactions, and needs.
I use Internal Family Systems so we can understand the different parts of you. I use EMDR when trauma or anxiety is what we are working on, alongside ordinary talking treatment. Mindfulness is one of the techniques I draw on, including attention to the breath and to what you are actually doing. In marital and sex therapy I use what I call Emotions Focused Therapy, to widen healthy behaviors and reduce distress. My goal is to maximize connection to your strength and wisdom.
I work with adults, couples, and families, and with people from adolescence into later life. The minimum age for therapy with me is 14, and I have worked with people from childhood into retirement. I enjoy working with veterans and first responders, and with people striving for recovery from addictions, including the family members and supporters around them. I also see therapists, counselors, and other professionals who want to reflect on their own work, whether that is a brief consultation on a difficult case or a look at how the work is affecting them. Couples may be dating, married, living together, LGBTQ, or separating. I welcome clients who identify as gay, lesbian, non-binary, or queer. Young adults and older adults are both part of the practice.
I bring a varied and eclectic style. I am a licensed psychologist, a father, a husband, and a runner, a first Gulf War era Army officer, and a former country manager of an American business in Russia.
I am a licensed psychologist in Pennsylvania. The practice follows time living in Europe, including service as an Army officer during the first Gulf War, and work as a country manager of an American business in Russia. I have worked with people from childhood into retirement, including veterans and first responders, and with people overcoming addictions. I also consult to select businesses, and I offer time for other therapists.

Introductory call
A short first conversation to see whether we are a good fit.
How often we meet depends on what you need, and everyone's needs are different. At the beginning, our sessions typically start weekly, so we can build rapport, establish trust, and make steady progress. After that we can discuss meeting less often. How long treatment lasts depends on the level of need. Some work takes weeks. Some long-term clients have worked with me for a long time.
Sometimes, yes. While the focus stays on you as a couple, there are times when meeting individually is helpful, especially early on, or when one of you needs a safe space to share or receive extra support. Those sessions are intended to strengthen the work you do together, not to create sides or secrets.
