About Elma

In our first session we explore the immediate problems in depth and we build, together, a way of working on them so that you can improve your life. I listen without judgment, and I want you to be able to be fully yourself. I integrate clinical psychotherapy, brain mapping (qEEG), transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), neurorehabilitation and therapeutic follow-up, with neuroplasticity in view. I also work with stress, grief, self-esteem, trauma and post-traumatic stress, codependency, and conflict in couples and in families. I consult in Spanish, English and Italian.

How Elma works

I see clients in the office and online, with a human, scientific and personalized approach. In the first session we explore what is most pressing and we agree on how to work with it, so that you can improve your life. I use cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, humanistic therapy, solution-focused brief therapy and mindfulness.

Alongside psychotherapy I integrate brain mapping (qEEG), transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), neurorehabilitation and follow-up over time. My clinical work includes psychological intervention and applied neuropsychology. I also work with psychoanalysis, clinical hypnosis, Jungian therapy, integrative therapy, transpersonal therapy and NLP. For an online session I ask you to choose a quiet place, check your connection, and have tissues, paper and a pencil nearby.

Approaches

General information from Kyan about each method, not a description of how Elma works.

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavioural therapy looks at how thoughts, feelings and actions keep each other going. Together you notice the patterns that hold a problem in place and try out new ways of thinking and acting, often with small practical tasks between sessions. It is widely used for anxiety, low mood, stress and sleep problems.

Psychodynamic therapy

Psychodynamic therapy explores how earlier experiences, and feelings you may not be fully aware of, shape your life today. Patterns that show up in your relationships, and sometimes in the relationship with the therapist, become something to understand together. It is often used for recurring difficulties with mood, relationships and self-esteem.

Humanistic therapy

Humanistic therapies see every person as capable of growth and focus on the whole person rather than a diagnosis. They value the relationship between client and therapist, your own experience and your right to make your own choices. Person-centred, gestalt and existential therapy are among the best-known humanistic approaches.

Solution-focused therapy

Solution-focused therapy puts the emphasis on what you want rather than on the problem. It looks for what is already working, even a little, and builds on your strengths and resources. The work is often short-term and practical, with clear, small steps.

Mindfulness-based therapy

Mindfulness-based therapy uses practices that train attention on the present moment, with openness rather than judgement. Noticing thoughts and feelings without being carried away by them can reduce stress and help break cycles of worry or low mood. Programmes such as MBSR and MBCT are well-known examples.
